Colfax RV Park at Colfax, LA

We arrived at Colfax RV Park, a Corps of Engineers campground with the Red River Waterway, yesterday afternoon. Barb had to drive since I am still recovering from multiple broken ribs. This is the first time she has had to do everything from hook-up to back-up. Usually she just gives me a break and drives for a while when we are towing. She did a great job handling the big rig!

It is nice to have the opportunity to be with our RV friends. Three other couples were already there. This is a great new campground that will only get better with age as the trees get taller. The park has a playground, boat launch, and club house as well as restrooms and showers. It is next to one of the locks and dams on the Red River.
Boat Launch
Notice the tug boat and barge docked across the river in the background. The launch was busy today as campers and boaters got ready to enjoy the holiday weekend.

Boat Dock Near the Launch

These docks will probably be very busy as boats loaded with fishermen, boaters, and skiers come and go over the holiday weekend. It was hot today, hovering around 100 degrees. They won't find relief in the water unless they are skiing because there is no swimming around the docks, launch, and along the shore near the picnic tables.

A Great Place for Picnics
Near these cypress trees along the river, picnic tables make a great place to bring the family. The designated cooks will be heating up the nearby barbegue pits tomorrow as families and friends prepare a feast for Independence Day.
