Fountainbleau State Park - Second Day

We are getting ready to leave today to go on to visit friends in Foley, AL just south of Mobile. We got the camper ready to go and then went out and got a better look at the park. It is truely a beautiful park. It has sustained some damage from past hurricanes, but the Live Oak trees are able to withstand just about anything Mother Nature can hand out. Many of these majestic trees have been standing for generations, like the one at left.

Along the beach on Lake Ponchartrain there are several places for beach goers to enjoy the lake.

The beach also has a beach house that has been closed since Hurricane Katrina and a very nice pier. The pier is a great place to walk and enjoy the lake. Looking back from the pavillion at the end of the pier one can see the many Live Oaks that line the shoreline.

The Visitor Center is located near the ruins of very old buildings. We didn't have time to visit the center.
