We picked up our new home on August 9th. We had seen it back in May at the factory in Chanute, KS while looking at used HitchHiker units. It is a 2010 HitchHiker 38 LKTG Champagne. We spent two and a half days moving our things from one to the other in 100 degree heat.
It is two feet eight inches longer than our old 2001 HitchHiker Premier which was 36 1/2 feet long. The triple axle helps the new fifth wheel pull well. It pulls easier than our previous rig and we are getting as good or better mileage towing it.
Here is Barb with Rebecca and Ty on a previous trip to the factory before we picked it up.
Since we sold our house to our son and his wife, we wanted something nice to make up for not having a sticks and bricks home. This rig of our dreams has the Big Foot hydraulic leveling system to make set up much easier and lots of other bells and whistles.
This picture is looking from the bedroom/bath area through the kitchen into the living room. You can see our two new burgundy Lazy-Boy recliners just past the kitchen table.
The hide-a-bed couch sits in the rear with the flower arrangement on the shelf in front of the vista window.
Barb’s sister, Sharon, made the gorgeous flower arrangement that we put in front of the vista window.
The entertainment center in the living room has a large 42” TV with surround sound which is just above the electric fireplace. The glazed Cherry cabinets give our home a special warm feeling.
The kitchen has a beautiful grey solid surface counter top with graceful curves. The appliances have stainless steel fronts.
The four door refrigerator is very roomy and the microwave/convection oven is just above the stove to the left.
We replaced the standard comforter and pillows on the king size Select Comfort bed with a more stylish one.
At the foot of the bed there are many drawers and cabinet doors to store our things.
We have a nice large bathroom vanity. Across the hall is the stackable washer and dryer.
This spacious cargo compartment now has a roll out tray and is filled with all our stuff.
