Mackinac Bridge and St. Ignace, MI

We left Leisure Lake Family Campground around 10:50 this morning after saying our goodbyes to all our HitchHiker friends. Barb was dreading the crossing of the Mackinac suspension bridge. It is about five miles long and is very tall. It turned out it wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be.

I forgot to put the SD card back in the computer this morning so we will have to wait until tomorrow to get some good pictures of the bridge.

Lakeshore CG
We are now on Michigan’s upper peninsula at Lakeshore Park Campground in St. Ignace, MI. Tomorrow we will take a ferry to Mackinac Island. As we crossed the bridge Lake Michigan was to our left  and Lake Huron was to our right below us.
 Village Inn
We splurged tonight after we set up the camper. We went into St. Ignace to the Village Inn Restaurant.

We both ordered the rib dinner. It was 3/4 a rack of ribs surrounded by Duchesse potatoes with a braised tomato and steamed vegetables. It was delicious with huge portions as you can see above. It was tempting to eat it all but we decided to save half for tomorrow.
St Ignace Marina
St. Ignace is a beautiful little harbor town at the base of the Mackinac Bridge.

Ferries leave the harbor in the wake of their jet drives for Mackinac Island as seagulls soar on the sea breeze.

Roger those are great pictures of the lake and the area. Have a great time in the U.P. and don't forget to look up the yoopers.

Ron and Lois are right about visiting the Da Yooper's store. But you have to go west past Marquette. By the way, we're the 'trolls' because we live under the bridge. Glad to hear that the bridge experience was OK. Looks like the cg was what we remembered. Have a great time!
